ABOUT ART IN THE BARN
Juried fine art festival with so much history . . .
Art in the Barn was started in 1974 when a group of ten women and local artists met to develop a quality art event for the Barrington community.
What began as an art show with 30 artists and 1,500 attendees has grown to be one of the most iconic and highest quality art festivals in the Chicagoland area with up to 180 juried artists exhibiting their work. With more than 45 years of momentum, this beautiful event draws returning art lovers and new visitors from the surrounding area where they enjoy not only the exhibition and sale of fine art, but also music and entertainment, food from a variety of vendors, and children's art.
Art in the Barn is one of the major fund-raisers for Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital which has donated millions to the hospital. It is sponsored by the Auxiliary of Good Shepherd Hospital.

AUXILIARY OF ADVOCATE GOOD SHEPHERD HOSPITAL
The members of the Volunteer Auxiliary of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital assist in promoting the health and welfare of the community.
The Volunteer Auxiliary’s responsibilities include serving as liaison between the hospital and community, fundraising, and taking part in activities that strengthen and improve our healthcare delivery system.
Through fundraising events like Art in the Barn, the Volunteer Auxiliary provides scholarships for students pursuing careers in healthcare and provides financial support for hospital expansion projects. The Volunteer Auxiliary also provides the craft items used by the LUV Ewes whose volunteers create various patient comfort items such as pillows, food tray favors, and baby items, etc. The Volunteer Auxiliary also sponsors the Catchpenny Resale Shoppe in downtown Barrington, 118 E. Main St., with all proceeds directly benefitting the hospital.

SMART FARM OF BARRINGTON
Smart Farm of Barrington is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization whose mission is two-fold: to grow fresh produce for our neighbors in need and to be an educational resource on sustainable gardening practices and healthy eating. Although our work focuses on a small geographic area, its cause is universal and essential: bright food for a healthy, sharing community.
In partnership with Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, land on their campus was offered to Smart Farm, and they began composting food scraps and expanded its farming area.

KALEIDOSCOPE SCHOOL OF FINE ART
Kaleidoscope School of Fine Art is a 501c3 not-for-profit institution situated in downtown Barrington. Founded in 1986, and redefined in 2014 as a not-for-profit, Kaleidoscope offers quality art instruction to Barrington and the surrounding communities. Classes are available throughout the year to students of all ages, from preschool through seniors. Our mission to “Enrich Lives through Visual Arts” can be seen in our accessible and inclusive programming. We fulfill our mission through our Senior Outreach and our Community Art-Reach programming. In the past year, Kaleidoscope has established connections with multiple local organizations to integrate art into the Barrington community.
